Blood Manipulation

Blood Manipulation is the one art tied to a weapon: its moves only appear with Sickles in hand. Any Sickles will do, including the Blood Sickles that Gyutai drops beside the art's last move.

It was cut back hard in the first balance passes, and one of its players describes it as gutted, though On Slaught got a small buff against bosses since.

Hovering a Blood Manipulation key mid-fight shows its name: On Slaught, the C move. Both Blood Manipulation Mastery and Sickles Mastery fill.

The five moves

  • ZBendMastery — · Points ?Steer a stream of blood wherever you want; it stays there and keeps ticking damage.
  • XRampant Arc RampageMastery ? · Points 6A domain of blood that keeps expanding; reportedly you cannot be hit out of it. An early balance pass reportedly removed its final-hit guard break.
  • COn SlaughtMastery ? · Points ?Dash forward; hitting someone triggers a stun. One player calls it the art's best move. Spelled On Slaught in the game. V0.182 raised its damage scaling by 10% against NPCs and bosses.
  • VRotating Blood ScytheMastery ? · Points 12A vortex of spinning blood scythes that pulls targets in and stuns at the end. Reportedly lost 35% of its damage early on, and its stun is no longer a strict one.
  • BCircular SlashesMastery ? · Points ?A flurry of slashes that, by one player's account, locks on to anyone near you. Also needs a Gyutai kill.

A question mark marks a number still unknown for this art. On Cryokinesis, where the whole tree is known, the moves ask for mastery 14, 27, 40 and 53 and cost 3, 6, 9 and 12 points. The two extra keys on the Sickles row, N and K, are the Sickles' own skills, Execution Scyther and Scyther Vortex, not part of the art. Unlocking Blood Manipulation

  1. Get the Blood Manipulation Orb

    Roll at Muzan (how the roll works) or pull it from a chest (orb drop rates).

  2. Crush it and finish the core training

    1. 1. Cup Training
    2. 2. Push ups
    3. 3. Aim Training
    4. 4. Defeat Mizunotos (5)

    Finish it holding anything and the art unlocks, but no move row shows until Sickles are in your hand.

  3. Buy the moves in the skill tree

    Training unlocks the art, not its first move. Open the Blood Manipulation branch, spend skill points on Bend, then raise Blood Manipulation Mastery for the rest.

  4. Beat Gyutai for Circular Slashes

    Gyutai, The Blood Sickle Demon, has both things the art needs: Blood Sickles at 7% and Circular Slashes, whose line reads Missing Blood Manipulation until you own the art. Under a 4x Luck boost the scroll line showed 20%.

What players ask about Blood Manipulation

I unlocked Blood Manipulation but have no moves. Why?
You need Sickles in hand. With fists, Claws or War Fans the art is learned but shows nothing.
I killed Gyutai 30 times and still no Blood Sickles.
At 7% a kill, about one player in nine goes 30 kills without them. Plain Sickles from Hoyuzo carry the art just as well; see weapon compatibility.
Was Blood Manipulation nerfed?
Yes. Early balance changes reportedly cut Rotating Blood Scythe's damage by 35% and took away its strict stun and the guard break on Rampant Arc Rampage. The details are on the updates page.
