How to get Serpent (Snake) Breathing in Slayers 2
Serpent’s trainer is a short run from where you start: Obari stands on the cliffs above Windy Peak, the starting village, about forty seconds’ run in the route video. Three things confuse people about this style, and each has an answer below.

Serpent or Snake?
Same style, two names. You will see Snake Breathing in some guides and videos: the requirement card and chapter list in revolver agz’s trainer video use it, and so does Destructoid’s tier list. Search for either and you are looking for the same thing.
The game’s own labels, wherever they show up in footage, say Serpent:
- the trainer’s prompt,
Serpent Trainer Obari; - the boss title,
The Serpent King; - the drops,
Serpent Haori,Serpent KatanaandSlithering Serpent; - and the note beside the move scroll for a Slayer who uses another style,
Missing Serpent.
So when the game tells you what you are missing, the word it uses is Serpent.
Does Obari want Demon Horns?
The two sources that list Serpent’s price agree on everything except the horns.

What to do about it
Talk to Obari before you farm anything. He is a short run from the starting village, so checking his dialogue costs you about a minute. Pro Game Guides itself warns that its table may not be the whole training bill. If you want one trip only, bring 5 Beast Cores and 20 Demon Horns, which covers both versions of the price.
Beast Cores come from the horned demons that appear at night (the narrator calls them demon cores); see where to farm Beast Cores and Demon Horns. The fan wiki also asks for 1,000 Wen; no other source does.
The short climb to him
- 0:36 Leave the starting village in the direction the video runs. The narrator points out the bandit camp on the way.
- 0:46 The area label under you reads Wilderness, then Bamboo Grove.
- 0:56 A wall climb prompt comes up at the first rock face. From here it is up: the narrator says to head for the top of the mountain.
- 1:16 Obari is at the top.
The narrator reminds you here that most trainers need Double Jump and Wall Climb, so unlock both in the skill tree by level 25.
Two NPCs called Obari
The trainer on the cliff and the world boss The Serpent King (Obanai in the anime) share a name but are separate NPCs in separate places. The trainer teaches you the style. The boss stands in the open further on: revolver agz passes him on the way to the Thunder trainer, just after Mother Bear, and tana’s boss route starts with him in Bamboo Grove. Killing the boss does not unlock Serpent.
What the boss does give is the style’s ultimate as a scroll. The two frames below are the same boss seen by two different players, and the scroll line is struck through for each of them for a different reason: Must be Slayer for one, Missing Serpent for a Slayer who uses Stone. You need to be a Slayer, and a Serpent user, before it can drop for you.

- Serpent Haori: 3%
- Serpent Katana: 5%
- Slithering Serpent: 5% on release day; the v.09 patch raised every boss skill drop by 5%, so it is higher now

After you pay: training
Paying Obari opens a training quest that ends with a trainee fight, according to the route video’s narrator. Serpent’s steps have not been shown on screen, and no Serpent trainee has appeared in footage: Muzan’s trainee hunts for demons cover five styles, and Serpent is not one of them. Stone’s six legible steps on the breathing styles page give an idea of the format.
Changes, and what the lists say
Neither patch note mentions Serpent. Pro Game Guides’ V0.145 notes keep it among the strong specialists, and Destructoid praises its teleport and knock-up moves for combos and its barrages in PvE. Before any patch, the route video’s narrator named Serpent and Thunder as the styles he would farm with.
All three published lists put Serpent in A, one of only two styles they agree on (Sound is the other). These are each outlet’s view, set side by side in the tier list comparison.
No official showcase
Ouw Productions posted breathing previews for six styles before release. Serpent and Insect are the two without one, so the nearest thing is the trainer video, where Serpent is the first stop.
