Blood Demon Art

Shockwave

Shockwave is a martial art for bare hands: a back-flip shot that teleports you onto whoever it hits, a counter stance, a flurry of kicks, a two-way slam and a pair of palm blasts to finish. Every fight raises your fists and the art together; a toast mid-fight reads +58 Fist and +48 Shockwave Mastery.

It is the one art that all three published tier lists put in S, and it runs on fists, Claws or the Gauntlet.

The five moves

  • ZDemon CoreMastery — · Points 3Back-flip into the air and fire a long-range shockwave. If it connects, you teleport to the target and unleash a barrage. The developer and the players who show it call this move Air Type; the tree node is named Demon Core.
  • XCompass NeedleMastery 14 · Points 6Stomp into a counter stance. Get hit inside the window and you teleport in front of the attacker and launch them into the air. With it active, your ultimate changes; see B.
  • CExplosive FuryMastery ? · Points ?Tap for a rapid flurry of kicks; hold to charge, dash forward and kick the whole barrage into the target. The name shows when you hover the C key.
  • VFlashing WillowMastery ? · Points ?On the ground, leap and punch down for a shockwave and a bigger second burst. In the air, grab the target and drill them into the ground. Name from the developer's preview and one player.
  • BAnnihilation TypeMastery 53 · Points ?Lunge forward firing two shockwaves from the palms; if they connect, a final blast throws the target away. Two players report that with Compass Needle out it turns into a different, wide-area attack; the developer's preview calls it Chaotic Afterglow: shockwaves in every direction, ending in a big explosion.

A question mark marks a number still unknown for this art. On Cryokinesis, where the whole tree is known, the moves ask for mastery 14, 27, 40 and 53 and cost 3, 6, 9 and 12 points. How mastery fills is on the mastery page; the fastest ways to raise it are on mastery farming.

Unlocking Shockwave

  1. Get the Shockwave Orb

Roll at Muzan (how the roll works) or pull it from a chest (orb drop rates).

  2. Crush it and finish the core training

    1. 1. Push ups
    2. 2. Barbell squats
    3. 3. Boulder Push
    4. 4. Boulder Split
    5. 5. Defeat Mizunotos (5)

Five steps, one more than any other art. Players stuck on the barbell squats report getting past them on a mobile device.

  3. Buy the moves in the skill tree

Training unlocks the art, not its first move. Open the Shockwave branch, spend skill points on Demon Core, then raise Shockwave Mastery for the rest.

  4. Beat Akazo for Annihilation Type

Akazo drops his top and bottom at 5% each and Annihilation Type, which reads 10% on his bar since the patch and 40% under a 4x Luck boost. Opening his chest before you own the earlier moves now brings a notice: the scroll can only drop once the Shockwave skills before it are unlocked, so buy Z, X, C and V first. His spawn is on the boss locations page.

Which weapons carry it

  • Fists Works

The default; there is no Shockwave item to equip.

  • Claws Works

  • Gauntlet Works

A favourite pairing with Shockwave players.

  • Sickles Does not

Players keep them as a second weapon for their own skills.

Every art and style against every weapon is on the weapon compatibility page.

Hovering the C key names it: Explosive Fury.

Opening Akazo's chest: ['Annihilation Type'] can drop once the Shockwave skills before it are unlocked.

What players ask about Shockwave

I can't find Shockwave in my inventory. Where is it?
It is not an item. Once the core training is done, the art sits on your bare-hand combat: select the fist slot and the moves you bought appear on the hotbar.
Why won't Annihilation Type drop from Akazo?
Since a later patch, Akazo's chest tells you the scroll only drops once the Shockwave skills before it are unlocked. Buy the first four moves, then farm him; the line is at 10% now.
Does Shockwave work alongside Soryu?
A popular comment says the art stops working with Soryu, but one Soryu player's toast reads +540 Fist, Soryu and Shockwave Mastery, so the two can at least level together. The Soryu style itself is on the fighting styles page.
Shockwave or Ice Manipulation?
Shockwave is S on all three lists, Ice on two (Pro Game Guides has it at A). Shockwave fights up close on fists; Ice Manipulation zones and freezes from range and runs on Claws or War Fans.
