How to get Flame Breathing in Slayers 2
Flame is taught by Rengu (Rengoku in the anime), who waits on the roof of a house at the far end of a long bridge out of Mistfall. A boss with the same name stands a few steps away. You pay the first for the style and farm the second for its gear, so this page covers both.

What Rengu asks for
- Level
- 25, the same bar as every other style.
- Demon Horns
- 10 one source onlyOnly Pro Game Guides gives a figure. The requirement card in revolver agz’s route video lists Beast Cores or Demon Horns with three question marks and tells you to interact to find out: the creator did not know either. Bring a few spare, and read Rengu’s dialogue before you hand anything over.
- Skill tree
- Double Jump helps. The route hops over two obstacles on the way out of the village; nothing on it needs Wall Climb.
Short on horns? The Demon Horns page has the farming spots.
Getting to the roof
- Leave the starting village by the exit the video points to (3:33). The area label changes to Wilderness; double jump over the two obstacles in your way.
- Look for the bridge (3:56). The narrator points it out from a distance; the label turns to Mistfall Harbor as you get close.
- Cross the long wooden bridge (4:16). Rengu’s marker is already on your minimap.
- Walk past the boss (4:30). Rengu the boss stands on the far side. His health bar pops up as you pass, twelve seconds before the trainer’s nameplate.
- Climb onto the house (4:39). The trainer is on the tiled roof. Pro Game Guides also says roof, while flagging the exact position as still to be checked; the frame at the top of this page shows him up there.

The creator runs on foot to keep the route simple. If you have a horse, the same path is quicker.
After the payment
Flame is not yours the moment Rengu takes the horns. A training quest follows, ending in a fight with a trainee. What Flame’s training asks of you has not appeared on screen; Stone’s is the only tracker anyone has recorded clearly, and it sits on the breathing styles page.
A mini boss called Flame Trainee does exist: it is one of five targets on Muzan’s hunt list for demons, next to the Thunder, Wind, Water and Insect trainees. Its health bar and drops have not been recorded.
Rengu the boss: every drop on his bar
The Flame Hashira has 3,000 health, drops a World Events Chest, and gives 1,000 experience and 450 Wen per kill. The narrator of tana’s boss video adds that world bosses gain health for every extra player hitting them. Here is the loot list exactly as his bar printed it on release day.
| Item | Chance | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Flame Haori Style 2 | 3% | The only 3% line on the bar, the rate every boss haori shares. |
| Flame Katana | 5% | The narrator of tana’s boss video calls it the best katana in the game and says it upgrades to a Volcanic Katana through the dungeons. Volcanic Katana is on the forge’s upgrade list in syoct’s endgame video. |
| Flame Slayer Uniform | 5% | An outfit piece. Tengai and Saneri also drop a style uniform at 5%. |
| Purgatory | 5% launch day, raised since | The move scroll. In the recording it is struck through with Missing Flame, because that player uses Stone. Learn Flame from the trainer first. The v.09 patch raised boss skill drops by 5%, so the figure here is the launch-day one and is higher now. |

Each line rolls on its own chance. To see how many kills a 5% katana or a 3% haori really takes, put your count into the drop calculator on the bosses page.
Has Flame changed since launch?
The developer’s v.09 note does not mention Flame. It names Water, Thunder, Tamari and Arrow, plus the boss skill drops that affect Purgatory.
Pro Game Guides’ notes for the later V0.145 round speak of Flame’s improved consistency and call it the broader counter-and-burst option in their top tier. They list no specific Flame change.
Before either patch, the route video’s narrator rated Flame for its burn damage in group farming and not much else.
Three lists, three verdicts
Two outlets put Flame in S and one in B. Only Wind splits the published lists wider.
If you rolled the Rengoku clan, its mode as printed in the game is Heart Ablaze Mode, which includes a burn damage bonus. See the clans page for the clan itself. The tier list comparison puts Flame next to the other seven styles.
Flame as the developer showed it
Ouw Productions uploaded a Flame showcase while preparing the release. It shows the moves as designed, before any balance patch touched the game.
