The Sickle Reaper

Hoyuzo

Hoyuzo is a mid-level boss in a cave near the Mother Bear. His bar shows Demon Horns x3 (50%), Sickles at 7%, his outfit at 3% each (spelled Hiyozu's on screen), and he leaves a Rare Chest, one of the places a Frozen Heart can come from.

Wagwan, a quest giver marked Lvl. 40+, stands by the waterfall on the way.

The cave past the Mother Bear

North-east of the Mother Bear, where the green meets Iceveil Valley's snow, beside the Kaiden marker; the way in runs through a misty basin full of his soldiers.

  1. Teleport to the Windy Peak shrine and head east past the Mother Bear and the bears.
  2. Follow the stream to the waterfall; Wagwan stands there with his quests.
  3. Carry on into the misty rock basin full of his soldiers, each named Hoyuzo Subordinate; the area label turns to Iceveil Valley.
  4. Hoyuzo waits at the end.

Plain Sickles carry Blood Manipulation just as well as Gyutai's Blood Sickles; see weapon compatibility. The Lvl. 52 line sits on the Sickles and the outfit, not the horns. Wagwan's quests, clear Hoyuzo's guard and then defeat him, are on the Demon Horns page.

Beating his spinning dash

  • One player's trick: after his spinning dash he cannot block or strike for a moment, so turn and hit him every time; pin him against a wall. It works best alone.
  • His soldiers drop Demon Horns too, so the way in is a horn farm.

Wagwan, marked Lvl. 40+, by the waterfall below the bear area.

3% or 7%, and what level

Is it 3% or 7% for the Sickles?
7% on the later bars and on the Sickles' Archives card; one early-build bar read 3%.
What level do I need?
Wagwan's quest shows Lvl. 40+, and the Sickles line Lvl. 52. Whether below 52 stops the drop is not settled.
