Tamari

Tamari throws exploding balls, and with your fists out you grow four arms to do it. Several of its moves are holds: hold the throw for six balls and a finisher, hold the ultimate to spin up a homing shot.

It sits last or joint last on all three published tier lists. Since the v.09 patch fixed and buffed it, though, the players who use it have started calling it one of the best arts.

The five moves

  • ZSpinning ThrowMastery — · Points ?Tap to hurl one ball that slows on a hit. Hold to throw six in a row and finish with one big throw; each ball pushes back, the last ragdolls. Name from the developer's pre-release preview.
  • XTamari DunkMastery ? · Points ?Leap and drive a ball into the ground: a crater, a stun on anyone caught, then a second explosion. Name from the developer's pre-release preview.
  • CPiercing KickMastery ? · Points ?A leaping kick. If it lands, press again to throw a ball that bounces off the target and blows up on the third bounce. You can keep hitting while it bounces. Name from the developer's pre-release preview.
  • VTamari MeteorMastery 40 · Points ?In the developer's preview, a slam that launches you high before you plummet toward the cursor. Players describe the live V as a long-range turret instead, so it may have changed.
  • BSpiraling ShotMastery 53 · Points ?Form a ball with all four arms, spin it and kick it. It homes in, drills into the target, lifts and detonates. Hold the key.

A question mark marks a number still unknown for this art. On Cryokinesis, where the whole tree is known, the moves ask for mastery 14, 27, 40 and 53 and cost 3, 6, 9 and 12 points. The first move costs 3 skill points on every other art. How mastery fills is on the mastery page; the fastest ways to raise it are on mastery farming.

Unlocking Tamari

  1. Get the Tamari Orb

    Roll at Muzan (how the roll works) or pull it from a chest (orb drop rates).

  2. Crush it and finish the core training

    1. 1. Cup Training
    2. 2. Push ups
    3. 3. Boulder Split
    4. 4. Defeat Mizunotos (5)

    Cup Training here is the ten-round cup game with three hearts; the training page has the trick to it.

  3. Buy the moves in the skill tree

    Training unlocks the art, not its first move. Open the Tamari branch, spend skill points on Spinning Throw, then raise Tamari Mastery for the rest.

  4. Beat Sumari for Spiraling Shot

    Sumari, The Temari Demon, only fights at night. Her launch bar lists Spiraling Shot and her outfit at 5% each, and the scroll line reads Must be Demon for Slayers. Her strongest attack reportedly hits for over 300, so bring potions.

What players ask about Tamari

Why is the ultimate so hard to land?
It homes in but has no cutscene lock, and one player who mains it calls it hard to hit. Another traced the curve at the end to the game's aim assist setting.
Can Tamari be used with Claws?
Yes, and the claws keep two keys of their own after B. Fists work too.
Is Tamari still bad?
The published tier lists put it at C, C and B. The players who main it disagree and rank it near the top since the v.09 fix and buff, though they also say counters hit it hard.
