How to get Thunder Breathing in Slayers 2
Thunder is taught by Zentaro, who stands on the highest peak above Hidden Mist Village. Getting there is a climb, so the skill tree matters as much as the price. Then the v.09 patch slowed the style down, and a later patch gave part of it back. Both halves are below.

A hilltop at night. The nameplate over the NPC on the left reads Thunder Trainer Zentaro.

Before you set off
- Level 25. Every trainer asks for it; the leveling guide covers the first stretch.
- 10 Demon Horns. two sources agree Pro Game Guides and the requirement card in revolver agz’s route video give the same number, and neither asks for Beast Cores or Wen. The Demon Horns page shows where to farm them.
- Wall Climb and Double Jump from the skill tree. two sources agree The last stretch is a cliff face you scale in short hops. Without Wall Climb you cannot reach him at all.
The route up, with timestamps
These steps follow revolver agz’s run from the starting village. Each time links to the moment in the video, so you can watch the jump you are stuck on.
- 4:51 Head out towards the bear area. On the way through, Mother Bear’s health bar comes up; the narrator warns she parries automatically, so don’t stop to fight her.
- 5:27 You pass Obari, the Serpent boss, standing in the open. Keep going. (If you are after Serpent Breathing instead, its trainer shares his name.)
- 5:38 The area label switches to Wilderness. Follow the path uphill.
- 6:02 The climb starts. The narrator suggests stopping at the foot to refill, then chaining double jump into climb up each face.
- 6:32 Get onto the tree trunk and follow it across. The narrator’s only warning is not to drop off the side.
- 6:59 A few more double jumps and Zentaro is on the summit.

Against a cliff face, with the prompt Wall over Stop Climbing.

After you pay him
Handing over the horns starts a training quest, not the style itself. Thunder’s own quest steps have not been shown on screen in any recording. The narrator of the route video says the tasks differ by style, some with parkour and some with push ups, and that you unlock the breathing once you beat the trainee at the end. The one quest tracker that is legible, Stone’s, is on the breathing styles overview.
A mini boss named Thunder Trainee does exist. In the route video it stands near the Stone trainer in Hidden Mist, and in BLUEZ’s demon video its sign reads Spawns in 1:55 after a kill. Its bar lists no item drops at all. Thunder training has never been shown being finished on screen, so the idea that this is the fight at the end of it rests on the name alone.
One thing to know if you farm it: Muzan’s task list offers demons of level 45 and up a hunt called Eliminate Thunder Trainee.

Mini Boss Thunder Trainee, 600 / 600, Common Chest. The only lines under the bar are Exp +185 and Wen +83: no item drops.

The Thunder nerf, move by move
The developer’s v.09 note in Discord lists Nerfed thunder a bit alongside Buffed Water Breathing. It gives no detail. What the change did to each move comes from one player’s test: Deepshaken, a Thunder user at level 215, recorded the moves right after the patch. Pro Game Guides reports a partial rebuff in V0.110, and its notes for the later V0.145 build still describe Thunder that way.
| Move | At launch, as the narrator remembers it | After v.09, in the creator’s test | After the V0.110 rebuff, per Pro Game Guides |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thunderclap and Flash | Released instantly | Now waits before it fires (2:21) | Faster cast and a longer stun at the end |
| Lightning Fold | Released instantly | Now waits before it fires (2:24) | Not mentioned |
| Rice Spirit | Released instantly | Now waits before it fires (2:27) | Faster cast and a longer finishing stun, but no strict stun any more |
| Godspeed | A burst of speed | You move no faster than running (1:51) | Still slower than at launch |
| Flaming Thunder God (the ultimate) | Not described | No delay the creator could see (2:32) | Not mentioned |
- The narrator puts the new wind-up at about a second after every move, and says Z, X, C and V were all hit. At 2:45 he shows Z firing late as well.
- The launch column is his memory of the old version, not footage of it. The patch note calls the change a bit; his video’s title calls Thunder the worst breathing in the game.
- Pro Game Guides adds that several Thunder finishers still push enemies less far than they did at launch. It gives no numbers for any of the changes.

The creator opens a Discord announcements channel on a post by Ouw Productions headed In newer servers (v.09) we:. It lists Fixed and buffed tamari, Buffed Water Breathing, Buffed Arrow, Increased all boss skill drop rates by 5%, Nerfed thunder a bit, Fixed more bugs and Removed all spikes in parkour dungeon for mobile and console.

Zentaro the boss, and the ultimate
The same name belongs to a world boss, The Thunder King (Zenitsu in the anime), who stands right next to Hidden Mist in tana’s boss route. Beating him does not teach you Thunder; paying the trainer does. What the boss gives is Thunder’s ultimate as a scroll, Flaming Thunder God, listed at 5% on the day of release. The v.09 note raised every boss skill drop by 5%, so it is higher now.
The scroll line is struck through for anyone who can’t use it: Must be Slayer in tana’s recording. On the boss bars in revolver agz’s video, a Slayer with a different style sees Missing and the style name instead, so plan on learning Thunder first. The same bar also lists the Thunder Haori at 3% and the Thunder Katana at 5%.
How many kills a 5% katana takes is a question for the drop calculator on the bosses page.

The Thunder King Zentaro: the health bar, and under it every drop with its chance, exactly as the game prints them.

Where tier lists put Thunder now
All three lists were published after the v.09 nerf. Only Pro Game Guides says its ranking accounts for V0.145, a build that already carries the V0.110 rebuff, and it puts Thunder at the top of its A tier. Destructoid rates it S and explains that with Thunder’s instant-cast moves, the very thing the post-patch test shows gone, so check which version a list describes before you trust it. These are each outlet’s opinion; the tier list comparison sets all eight styles side by side.
The developer’s own preview
Ouw Productions posted a Thunder showcase before release. It shows the moves as they were designed, which makes it a useful before picture for the nerf, but it predates both patches.
